MAKNA Home Visit
team is responsible for paying visits to our cancer patients all year long. In
March, they will be heading to Kuala Selangor, Banting and Bangi in Selangor to pay
a courtesy call and check on our patients’ status and well-being.
These visits are
important as they are meant to maintain rapport with patients, provide them
the necessary support and comfort as well as encourage the keeping of their scheduled
treatments at the hospitals. MAKNA also finds out from these visits if the
patients are still alive or have passed on, and this bit of information is useful
to MAKNA in helping its re-evaluation of the assistance already given. If it so
happens that MAKNA comes across a deceased cancer patient during the visit,
then MAKNA will act accordingly by discontinuing funding to the person/s
concerned.
It also during this
time where our team will also learn if the assistance provided to these
patients is sufficient or otherwise. In a manner of speaking, our home visit
team are “our eyes and ears” who updates our patients’ status and condition.
For this upcoming
trip, we would like to extend our invitation to our donors or supporters who
are interested to meet these cancer patients in person. When our Home Visit Team
goes for the said trips in March, you may tag along with them. The trips have
been planned from 6 March to 31 March, 2014.
As there are many patients
to be visited, one trip will not be sufficient to cover all of them. However,
for each visit, we are only able to accommodate a maximum of two guests.
There will be other
similar opportunities to visit the patients in the future, and you will be kept
posted on this. But for now, if you need more information or want to join the upcoming
trip, kindly contact Cik Noraini at
03-2162 9178, ext 123.
